Dr. Jennifer Gatz
Jen has over 20 years of experience coaching multisport athletes from the novice to professional level in triathlon, running, cycling, and adventure racing. She received her B.Sc. in Cardiac Rehab/Exercise Science from Ithaca College in 1993. A masters in Exercise Physiology in 1999 from Adelphi University and a masters in Biology with a teaching certificate from Stony Brook University in 2004. Jen earned her PhD at Stony Brook University in 2017 studying the effects of aerobic exercise on cognition and science achievement. 3 years ago, Jen walked into Crossfit Impervious with a mission to get stronger for competitive masters rowing. Within a month, it was clear that Crossfit was the new athletic passion. That passion for being better has spilled over into age group competition, with goals set to reach the highest levels in the sport of Crossfit and to help others better themselves with constantly varied functional movements done at high intensity! Jen is a CF-L1 level trainer, and a Certified Exercise Specialist by the American College of Sports Medicine. An accomplished athlete, with a background as a competitive rower, Jen has qualified for and competed in the Boston marathon twice, was a nationally ranked triathlete with 3 Ironman finishes and loves mountain biking, trail run racing, cyclocross, skiing, and now Crossfit competition!
